The Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA) is the only national trade association organized to represent professionals who conduct like-kind exchanges under Internal Revenue Code §1031. Members include Qualified Intermediaries (QIs), their primary tax and legal counsel, and affiliated industries (TIC sponsors, banks, real estate brokers, title companies, settlement/escrow agents, etc.) Their web site is www.1031.org.
One of the best areas of the site is the Frequently Asked Questions area which is being updated. We serve on the FEA Continuing Education Committee which has a group looking at these questions to make them even more useful to you. We give them suggestions for this site rather than making our own duplicate one. To see FAQs click here www.1031.org/about1031/faq.htm.
1031 Exchange Coordinators is an active member of the FEA. We speak at the annual conventions. We speak at the quarterly regional meetings. We serve on the Continuing Education Committee and were involved in writing chapters for the creation of the study guide for the Certified Exchange Specialist Exam. Our founder Gary Gilbertson helped create the initial questions for the exam. We believe that this is the finest educational institution for teaching qualified intermediaries the knowledge to serve you. It also plays a significant role in protecting your funds and creating appropriate ethics for our industry.
